On Episode Two of the Dylan Songbook, we’re focusing on the No Direction Home Soundtrack. From the bedroom recording of When I Got Troubles in 1959, we watch as Dylan ascends into the stratosphere.

We hear him reject the notion that he’s a spokesman for the ’60s, even as he sings blistering anti-war songs such as Masters of War and A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall. We listen to the stark reality of Desolation Row and round it all out with Like A Rolling Stone.

We left out a lot. But we try to keep this to an hour. Maybe we’ll revisit this one down the road a piece.

Sit back and enjoy this one.
